VISION STATEMENT & IDEAS
Thousands of Coastal Bend residents gave their opinions and ideas on how best to reach our BoldFuture. The Vision Summit in February 2009 resulted in the BoldFuture Vision and Ideas, validated by the BoldFuture sponsors, ambassadors and advisors. The Vision Action Plan is based on these vision ideas.

ABOUT US

Launched in May 2008, BoldFuture for the Coastal Bend represents the most extensive participation process in the history of the Coastal Bend. Guided by a vision task force, community ambassadors, and a stakeholder advisory committee, thousands of citizens came together to share their vision of the future and create our bold vision of what we can be… what we will be. Coastal Bend residents from Nueces and San Patricio Counties voiced their ideas; refined, prioritized and validated the ideas and created a shared vision for our region.

The Road Map to BoldFuture: Guiding Principles

These principles were the foundation of the two-year process to develop a vision and vision action plan for the Coastal Bend.

POSITIVE - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College are providing an objective arena in which to design and conduct a positive dialogue on the future of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend community that brings citizens and stakeholders together in a productive relationship.

INCLUSIVE - The project structure will include multiple stakeholders. Opportunities for broad public involvement from all sectors of the community will be provided.

COMPREHENSIVE - The resulting vision will be for the community as a whole: economic development, health care, growth, education, quality of life, and more.

INFORMED - The process will include rigorous collection and analysis of data to: understand the current regional position, identify emerging trends and issues, and validate the vision when it is developed.

PROFESSIONAL - The process will be designed with the assistance of a community visioning professional, Steven Ames, principal of Steven Ames Planning, and will be enriched by the involvement of many institutional and community resources.
